Year 5 – Autumn Term Update
Year 5 – Autumn Term Update
This term we have been reading an African tale, “Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughter” and have been exploring descriptive language. We are looking forward to sharing our stories with you soon at the Termly Learning Conferences. In Maths, we have been working with numbers to one million and have been learning to round to the nearest 10, 100, 1,000 and 10,000. Our Science topic of Space has been awe-inspiring as we have realised the sheer size of the planets, satellites and stars. Through our History work, we have found out how difficult life was before, and during the Industrial Revolution and how the changes have made our lives easier today.
We have been pleased with how many of the children are completing their homework each week. We would like to remind you that the homework expectations in Year 5 are;
- Reading with an adult at least four times a week and recording this in the reading diary
- Working on Times Table Rock Stars for a minimum of fifteen minutes at least three times a week
- Reading and learning the facts on your Knowledge Organisers regularly – there may be a quiz at the end of the term!
We thank you for all your support at home and look forward to meeting you all at TLCs. Please can you remind your child to have their reading book and reading diary in school every day.
