Year 2 – Place Value and Cinderella

Spread the love

Year 2 Learning

Year Two have continued to work brilliantly over the past two weeks and we have been reading Cinderella and working on our place value.

When reading Cinderella, we have been describing the characters carefully using amazing adjectives and will be retelling the story at the end of this week. Maybe your child can tell you the story all by themself.

In Maths, we have been reading numerals to 100 and partitioning them into tens and ones.  Have a look at these examples and ask your child to show you how we count the tens and then the ones.

Remember that book bags need to come back into school on a Friday and we will replace the reading books on Monday and send them back home.  Children are expected to read at home with an adult at least four times each week. This can be their school reading book or online using Oxford Owls or Scholastic (chidren will be given a login for this if appropriate).

Each child has a NumBots and Times Table Rockstars login and they should be regularly using these at home too. Please see your child’s class teacher if you do not have access to the internet or have any problem using these online resources.

The children will also be receiving a letter regarding Purple Mash, an online learning tool which will be used in the event of home learning having to take place. Please take time to logon to this resource to ensure that your child is able to navigate the website with confidence. We have used this in school so they should be able to show you around the site.
