Year 4 – Raiding, writing and rounding

Spread the love

Hello again Year 4,

Wow! What a fantastic start to the term! We think you have all been working extremely hard and we would like to say a big thank you to all of you.

Today we will be sending home stage books and your orange reading diaries.  This term, we would like you to keep your orange book at home all week and then return it to us each Friday.  This will give you plenty of time to read your book during the week and then we will hand it back to you each Monday.  Over the weekend you can continue reading by using the Scholastic reading programme.

Well done for remembering to come to school in your PE kit.  Just to remind everyone that PE is every Thursday and you can wear your PE kit and suitable trainers/plimsoles to school.

Online Activities

You have all now received your logins for the following websites. Look out for challenges and battles set by your teacher. You will also be set a new book to read on Scholastic each week. You can click the pictures below to take you to the websites.

We learnt how to round numbers to the nearest 10 and 100. You could try telling someone at home how to round these numbers to the nearest 10 and 100. The video below might help you.

We are really enjoying working on The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.  You have impressed us with your wonderful descriptions about Mr Tumnus’ cave.  We thoroughly enjoyed reading them – well done!

In History, we have been discovering all about life for the Vikings. You were fantastic when you acted out the first Viking raid in Lindisfarne. Here are some pictures of you in action.

Here are some lovely examples from 4RC’s Art lesson. See if you can spot your pencil drawing. We can’t wait to have a go at drawing flowers in 4AT and 4SM.
