Year 6 – Half Term Homework
We would like to thank you for your support with our new SATS companion resource. We have set some pieces for the children over the half term to support them in the areas that they found challenging in the tests that they did. In addition, we would like the children to use the revision section of the site to help them with areas that they are unsure of.
This term, in Geography, we will be looking at natural environments and their features. The four areas that we will be covering are:
Tropical forests
Mountains and volcanoes
Rivers, lakes and waterfalls
Seashores, caves and caverns.
To introduce this, we would like the children to investigate islands from around the world that only have small human populations but a range of interesting wildlife and unusual geographical features They can choose one of these islands and find out as many facts as they can about it such as: a map of the island, the landscape, the wildlife and the weather.
Some islands that might be considered are:
The Galapagos islands
The Maldives
Madagascar
Caribbean Islands
The Falklands
Sats companion is wonderful! Its made a huge difference to Chloe’s learning and her confidence in her own ability. She seems to be enjoying using it.
The geography sounds fascinating, I am looking forward to spending some time researching this with Chloe.
