Minibeasts and Microhabitats!

Spread the love

We had our first science lesson of our new unit of learning today. We are beginning by looking at microhabitats and minibeasts. The children were extremely excited when I told them we were going into the woods to look for minibeasts. We had already found out that the best places to look were under rocks, under logs, in leaf litter or in clumps of grass. We found most of our minibeasts under the logs that Forest Schools use for their woodland activities. We found worms, woodlice, earwigs, millipedes and slugs! We then went back to class to find out why the minibeasts liked living under the logs so much.
